Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent to the outside provider operating that feature. The provider processes the query and returns its results. Orleans Parish Criminal History does not retain or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent directly to the operator may be kept long enough to review and answer it. Messages remain within the operating team unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Standard technical records may be created when a page loads. They can include:
- The device's internet protocol address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- A referring website, when available
- The date and time of each request
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies and analytics tools help measure traffic, performance, and patterns such as popular pages or exit points. Browser controls can reject cookies, although some functions may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Operate the website and improve load performance
- Pass a search request to the selected partner
- Measure which resources visitors use
- Find errors and address technical problems
- Display advertising that may reflect user interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Orleans Parish Criminal History does not build, keep, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to records maintained by NOPD, the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office, criminal court clerks, Louisiana State Police BCII, and the Louisiana State Sex Offender and Child Predator Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report. Louisiana Public Records Law, La. R.S. 44:1 et seq., governs access to government records, while BCII dissemination is separately limited by La. R.S. 15:576-588.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Information submitted there is governed by that provider's privacy policy, retention choices, and disclosure practices. Review those terms before using a partner tool.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to court portals, sheriff or police pages, Louisiana agencies, legal resources, and commercial search services. Once a visitor leaves this website, the destination's privacy policy applies.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to track activity across websites for targeted advertising. Orleans Parish Criminal History does not control that tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal information is not sold. Limited data may be available to:
- A search company processing a query submitted to it
- Analytics vendors measuring site traffic and function
- Advertising networks serving content on the pages
- A government body or law enforcement agency acting under valid legal process
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used safeguards protect collected information. No internet service can guarantee complete security, so the possibility of unauthorized access cannot be eliminated.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. Information identified as belonging to a minor will be removed when appropriate notice is received.
Your Data Rights
Applicable Louisiana consumer-protection law, including the Louisiana Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law, La. R.S. 51:1401 et seq., and other laws where a user resides may provide rights concerning personal data. At a minimum, a user may:
- Request a copy of personal information held about them
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Seek deletion of eligible personal information
- Opt out of certain processing where the law permits
